The NBA - National Baskettball Association, founded 1946 - decided after a long time to renew their website in Germany. And, there was mot even a need to start a new project from scratch: SPOX.com took the complete editorial responsibility for the German NBA presence and the domain "nba.de". This way it was obvious to do the technical implementation with the cmsWorks content mangagement system.
The "web professionals" from itechWorks gladly took over the responsibility of the external technical project management right through to the implementation of nba.de: Could synergy effects with the existing editorial system minimize development and turn-around times? Short answer: yes.
The main challenges were:
- A new look and feel for the US sports / NBA division from SPOX.com
- This while maintaining the usual editorial workflow when managing the content
- The use of the existing infrastructure for delivery, tracking, marketing, community and social media must not be changed
- An easy integration of further data and video materials had to be realized
- Connection to the API of the NBA: The German representation of the data from the American data center should be possible by exporting page fragments
- A technical refresh of the pages in the area of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has been guaranteed by the already available options of cmsWorks
cmsWorks as an editorial cms system provides enough performance reserves to deliver such a wide-reaching and, at peak times, highly requested page in a stable and performant manner. And the realization resulted in a "win-win" for the NBA and for SPOX: The NBA benefits from the editorial support and competence of SPOX.com, SPOX is pleased that the readers and SPOX community are even better informed iregarding american basketbal.
