Presenting more content in a more fashinable and better way was the main focus of the graphical relaunch of the SPOX.com website. That is why the Perform Group once again hired the "web professionals" from itechWorks to implement a broader page with larger, more sporty and emotionally charged images. All of this, of course, without changes to the legacy content, which reaches back over seven years.
The content management system that delivers here is cmsWorks from itechWorks. The strict separation of content and representation ensured that existing content can be displayed seamlessly in the new designs without any changes.
Among other things, the relaunch wish list of SPOX.com consisted of the following points:
- "Broadening" the entire page to better present the content
- The start page of SPOX.com and the sub-pages of the sports categories have been combined into new groups in order to offer users the content in a focused, yet more lightweight manner
- The article presentation itself has been loosened up, fonts, line spacing and text widths have been adjusted for easier readability, the authors of the articles are more prominently named
- An automated integration of the video offers of the Perform Group as well as an increased use of videos in articles or directly in the distribution pages were implemented
- A new headline with emotionally designed, large pictures, active topic changes and the option to alternatively display topics of the day on the right side have been set up
- Large images are now better supported in the different content areas
- The daily ticker from SPOX.com has been completely redesigned and an increased integration of social media widgets has been implemented, the content of SPOX can now be distributed more easily and elegant via Facebook, Twitter and Co.
- The SPOX community is now better presented, for example by displaying a comment counter in the teasers of the distribution pages
In the procedure of the relaunch, the various existing types of documents were merged backwards-compatible. For the editorial workflow, the use of the content management system even became easier, despite the new possibilities.
itechWorks, "the web professionals", wish for SPOX.com, their editorial staff and - above all - their readers much success and fun with the newly designed pages.
